At the heart of any kaleidoscope are quality first surface mirrors. Most inexpensive kaleidoscopes use "ordinary" second-surface glass mirrors, plastic mirrors or polished metal all of which produce blurred, indistinct images. Second surface mirrors can also produce "ghost-images" of reflections off the front surface of the glass.

Quality first surface kaleidoscope mirrors are sometimes difficult to find and not always readily available through traditional retail sources. Mirotek offers two kits:

(10) cut mirrors 2" x 12" x 1/8" thick (94% reflectivity)
